The nominations for the 91st Academy Awards were announced today, and Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper's 'A Star is Born' has scored a total of 8 nominations.
The 4th reimagination of a classic tale, Cooper & Gaga’s ‘A Star Is Born’ becomes the version with most Oscar nominations. The 1937 original with Janet Gaynor scored 7 nominations, while the 1954 adaptation with Judy Garland and the 1976 remake with Barbara Streisand scored 6 and 4 nominations respectively.
A Star Is Born recieved the greatest honor, landing a Best Picture nomination. Lady Gaga was nominated for Best Leading Actress, while Bradley Cooper scored a nomination for Best Leading Actor. The pair's hit song "Shallow" was also nominated in the Best Original Song category (Cooper does not recieve a nomination here as he is not a credited writer). Sam Elliott also recieved a nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
